In Emergencies

  • Do not panic.
  • Turn head to one side.
  • Sponge the child in case of high fever.
  • Contact the nearest hospital.
  • Tilt head downward (tilting upwards may be harmful).
  • Pinch tip of the nose and keep mouth open for breathing.
  • Place an ice cube on the nose bridge.
  • If bleeding does not subside, contact nearest hospital.
  • Apply pressure firmly over bleeding area with ice until bleeding stops.
  • Wash wound with running water and soap if possible.
  • Do NOT apply antiseptics/tinctures dipped in cotton over the wound.

Immediate treatment:

• Immobilize the affected part
• Raise/elevate the affected part
• Ice fomentation
• Never attempt to move the joint/limb

Watch for signs of:

  • Nausea
  • Drowsiness
  • Change in behavior
  • Bleeding from the ear
  • Watery discharge from the noseThese could be symptoms of serious injury and urgent care is required
  • Pour cold water/ice on burnt area.
  • Do not apply anything (toothpaste, egg white etc).
  • Rush to nearest hospital.

Rush to the hospital as early as possible to minimize absorption into blood stream
